Boerne city water comes from Boerne City Lake, from Canyon Lake through GBRA, and from groundwater wells. Those wells tap the Trinity Aquifer under Kendall County. The city does not report a hardness number, and hardness shifts from street to street. What you can see is the mineral film it leaves behind.
Glass shows it first. Water hits the pane, dries in the sun, and the minerals stay put. Scrubbing harder does not take them off. Our window cleaning covers the glass, the screens, the tracks and the sills.
Hard water also spots limestone sills, stone veneer and stamped concrete. Properties outside the city limits often draw from private wells instead. Cow Creek Groundwater Conservation District permits those wells across Kendall County. On a well, we check the water supply before we start so the pump keeps up.
Boerne sits west of I-35, in the middle of Ashe juniper country. Mountain cedar starts to release pollen in mid December and peaks in mid January. It tapers off by early March. A single tree can put out billions of pollen grains.
That pollen lands on roofs, siding, windows and porch rails. Live oaks add pollen of their own each spring. Oak leaves and acorns bleed tannin, which stains driveways, patios and pool decks brown. Pressure washing with a surface cleaner lifts that staining off flatwork.
Gutters take the worst of it. Cedar debris and oak leaves pack the troughs through winter and spring. Full gutters spill over onto fascia boards and siding, and the standing water breeds mosquitoes. Our gutter cleaning clears the troughs and flushes the downspouts.
